Habits to develop in 2023!

Everyday, we get a new chance to turn our bad habits into good habits! Looking back 2022 was a year of bad habits for me- mainly caused by my depression, my laziness and my amazing ability to procrastinate big time. In 2023 I want to be able to change all my horrible habits into great healthy habits. 

I am currently working on a few habits and once I master those, I will change other bad habits that I have into good habits or add on another healthy habit. The bad habits I am working on since January 2nd of 2023 are:

  • Water intake: We all know how important water is for us and I am just so horrible at consuming water. I wish I was one of those people that can easily drink a gallon of water a day or more, but sadly I am not. Some days I consume half a gallon of water and other days I barely consume maybe 10 to 20 – I know it’s horrible. Right now I am working on getting at least 50 oz of water or more a day.
  • Vitamins/supplements: I feel so much better when I am consistent with my vitamin but my issue is being consistent. One day of forget turns into weeks of forget for me. This year I am making sure that I don’t forget to take them even if that means putting on reminders on my phone.
  • Reading Bible: I am a Christian but I am not as religious, and if I’m being honest I don’t think I have ever read the full Bible. My goal is to get into the habit of reading even just one chapter of the Bible a day.
  • Exercise: I use to only think of exercise as something I had to do to lose weight and only did it rarely. I want to change my mindset about fitness and make it more about me working out for my health, to feel good, to de-stress and not just “I’m doing this to burn calories.”
  • Gratitude Journal: I can be such a negative person especially to myself. I am working on changing that slowly by starting to write in a gratitude journal on a daily basis.
  • Getting more steps in: I can be so lazy sometimes and will only get maybe less than 2500 steps most days. I want to live a healthy active lifestyle and eventually walk over 10,000 steps a day. Right now my goal is to do 6,000 5/6 times a week. So far I am crushing it!
  • Meditating: I deal with anxiety and I don’t know how to control it. My goal is to get into meditating this year, so far I have been doing it almost 3 times a week, however, I constantly get so distracted meaning my mind just wonders to other things and I have heard that’s normal. I am hoping by continuing to do so, I will get to be able to fully concentrate on meditating.
  • Sleep: I have the worst sleep schedule and suffer a lot from falling asleep to staying asleep. I want nothing more to be a morning person but it is so hard for me. I am slowly working on trying to wake up by 9am at least 5 days a week. Some days I am up at 5:30am due to work and I kinda love it. But in my head when I set up an alarm early on the days I don’t have work in the mornings, my mind automatically shuts off the alarms because I know I don’t have to be anywhere. I want to change that mindset – I just struggle a little ok actually a lot.

Habits that I would love to build in 2023 are:

  • Morning routine: I would love to be one of those girls, that wake up, exercise, have breakfast and coffee before they go to work; unfortunately right now I don’t have a morning routine, everyday looks so different, and I tend to exercise afternoon/evenings.
  • Productive: I am such a procrastinator and so lazy and I would love to kick this horrible habit out of my life.
  • Blog: I always get so motivated to start blogging around December or so, then within a few months I lose my motivation, shut down my blog and then come December I make a new one. I want to break this habit this year, keep this blog for years to come and work on it through out the year.
  • Get fresh air: I want to make it a part of my morning routine to just sit outside for a few minutes, enjoy the fresh air while sipping on my delicious morning coffee.
  • Speaking of coffee: I want to cut down on my coffee intake. Some days I drink about 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day. I know it’s so bad especially for my anxiety. I would like to cut it down to one cup MAYBE two cups a day and the rest of the time switch it to tea instead.
  • More veggies; I have gotten better about it this year but I need to start including a lot more veggies into my meals.
  • Slowly cut out dairy: my stomach hates dairy but I just love it. I need to work on finding alternatives for a lot of the products that I like and make the switch over.
  • Save more/shop less: I love to shop and a lot of the time its crap I really don’t need and I need to break that habit.

  2. I definitely have been trying to increase my water intake this year! I want to get more sleep but it’s so hard especially when my daughter still gets up sometimes. Hopefully I can get more though! Great post 🙂

  3. It’s true that changing your habits can change your life. I want to be much healthier this year, so I’m also working on drinking more water, eating nutritious food, and getting enough sleep. Wishing you all the best and good luck with all your goals.

  4. Great habits you are trying to develop. I almost shut down my blog once but decided to just keep it but didn’t blog or publish. This year, I’m trying to change that
