My day as a nanny…

Being a nanny is so rewarding and amazing; but it can also be kinda hard. It is a lot of responsibility and it requires a TON of patients. I currently work for a family that has two adorable little girls ages 4 and almost 6. My day to day looks so different now while we are going through this COVID-19 situation than when life was “normal,” believe it or not right now it is more exhausting than ever before. I come home so so tired everyday and barely have any energy left to do anything else. I wanted to share what a typical day as a nanny is like (at least for me.)

8am – arrive at work

8am to 9:30 am – get girls dressed and feed them breakfast.

9:30 am to 10 am- oldest one has online zoom session and youngest will play with toys.

10 am – 10:40 – we either go for a walk around the neighborhood or we will play in the backyard.

10:45 to 10:55 am – snack time

11 am – 1pm – zoom class for both girls and then homework for the older one.

1pm – lunch

2 pm to 3:30 – outside play time; sometimes we will go swimming if its hot and sometimes we will even do Zumba class, or yoga class that I find on YouTube.

3:30 to 4 pm – iPad or show time

4 to 5 pm – bath time for girls.

5pm – I’m off!

This is what my day usually looks like now. I do work more hours usually (7:30am to 6pm) but since mom is working from home I’m get 1.5 hours less a day right now.

March Overview and April Goals.

Boy it was been a crazy few weeks for everyone around the world with everything going on regarding the COVID 19. First of all I hope you and your family are healthy and well! March was such a busy and exhausting month for me; I know most people are either staying at home, working from home or actually having to go to work right now. I am one of those who is actually still going to work; I’m a nanny so I literally just go from my house to theirs so it is ok right now but it’s been so hard and I feel like only nannies would understand this. Being a nanny is always so tiring but to be home all day with the kiddos and having the parents and in my case grandparents there too can be so hard. Don’t get me wrong I love my job but for some reason kids think that because their parents are there they can act however they want and say what they want. Ive been coming home extremely tired and my anxiety has been so so bad lately so I decided to take next week off to just recharge and rest.

My March goals were to:

  1. Upload 5 blog post which I did – woohoo!
  2. Read 1 book which I did not sadly!
  3. Be more social on social media and interact with fellow bloggers – I have been a little better but not as good as I would like since I got insanely busy too.
  4. Follow a low fat diet… yeah that turns out it didn’t have to be a low fat diet after all when I finally talked to my doctor so I have been back on fasting instead.
  5. Lose 3 to 5 pounds…which I lost 2.4 pounds which isn’t too bad considering how stressful this month has been and I am such a stress and emotional eater (hence why I started a 100 day fasting challenge for myself so I can have some control over my eating and weight too)

So for April, my 5 goals will be some what similar to March:

  1. Upload 7 blog posts!
  2. Read 1 book/audiobook.
  3. Intermittent fast everyday – aim for 16 hours but 14 is ok too!
  4. Drink more water!
  5. Be more social on social media.

What are some of your goals for this month???

blogmas, life

Day 4: My Career!

If you have ever seen Mary Poppins then you must have guessed my career…I’m a nanny! I have been a nanny for over 12 years now…how crazy is that?!?! I absolutely love my job and so thankful I can do something that I enjoy so much on a daily basis. It such a fun and rewarding job watching the kids grow up but its also very hard too (Only my nanny friends will understand this part.) I always wanted to be a teacher when I was a child and I got to experience somewhat of that life when I applied to be an after school teacher for over 4 years I believe. Then one day I applied to a nanny job for summer break and I fell in love with it.

I don’t know if I see myself being a nanny for the rest of my life though – I have been thinking about opening my own indoor playground one day in the future, but I would also love to maybe one day make this blog my part time or even full time job and be able to stay home with my future kids.

And just like that the weekend is over…

How is it that it’s already 10 pm on Sunday? I feel like the weekend just flies by in a blink of an eye. This weekend didn’t go as we had planned, and by we I mean my husband and I! We had planned on going to Disneyland yesterday to have an adult day and to take our camera to take pictures of all of the Halloween decorations! What do I mean by adult day? Well I go to Disneyland a lot with the little babe that I nanny so it’s part of my job; however we do all kids stuff so sometimes I just like going with my husband to go on the bigger rides and just enjoy Disneyland with my husband! Well yesterday, it was going to take us forever to get there due to traffic (we are about 50 minutes away) and for some reason yesterday every freeway was beyond packed so we said screw it and went and watched the predator! I’m usually not into this type of movies (I’m all girlie when it comes to movies) but my husband is so I went with him to watch it…it actually wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be or as scary even. There was a few parts in the movie where I had to look away because of how disgusting some scenes were to me, but other than that I enjoyed it and so did hubby!

Then today we had to go to a kids birthday party then came home took a nap and ended up doing adult things like washing the car, shopping for the week and doing laundry! I must say I’m quite proud of myself… I usually never ever meal or snack plan but I’m trying to be better about eating my veggies because well I suck at it so I got cucumbers, carrots and cherry tomatoes, washed and cut up the cucumbers and put them all together in individual bags for the week – woohoo! I’m excited and very proud of myself and hopefully I can keep up and turn it into a whole week meal prep type of thing eventually!

Now time to go finish up my mint green tea from Trader Joe’s which is so yummy and head to bed for work tomorrow!

I would love to hear about your weekend… comment down below 😊
